Pure honey, pure highlands

Kol Ples Honey is produced in the cool, flower-rich highlands around Goroka. Our beekeepers care for healthy hives and bottle the honey just as the bees make it — raw, unfiltered, and full of the natural flavour and pollens that give highland honey its distinctive character.

Every jar is packed with care in Eastern Highlands Province and shared with customers who value honest, local honey.

WORLD BEES DAY

A day to celebrate bees and protect pollinators — essential to food production, biodiversity, and healthy ecosystems everywhere.

The name

Why "Kol Ples"?

Goroka, our home in the Eastern Highlands, is affectionately known across Papua New Guinea as "Kol Ples"— Tok Pisin for "Cold Place". Tucked in the highland valleys at over 1,600 metres, Goroka enjoys cool, crisp temperatures year-round.

That same cool highland climate is what makes the wildflowers thrive and the bees produce such richly flavoured honey. The name honours where we come from — and the place that gives this honey its character.

Your purchase supports a beekeeper

Bought from beekeepers, at a price that respects the work

I am a beekeeper myself, so I know exactly what goes into a jar of honey — the early mornings at the hives, the stings, the careful harvesting, and then the hardest part: carrying heavy honey into town.

Most beekeepers in the Eastern Highlands live well outside Goroka town, and transport is a real challenge. That is why I buy their raw honey at a good, fair price — a small way of standing behind the people doing the hard work in the villages.

So when you buy a jar of Kol Ples Honey, your purchase goes directly back to a local beekeeper and their family. 🐝
